Best protein treatment for your hair

Keratin is a natural protein in our hair responsible for strand strength, hair volume, among other things. This protein can however be damaged as a result of excessive exposure to heat, too many chemical products, sun, wind, pollutants and hair manipulation.

The implication of this is, when the hair lacks protein, it basically leaves the hair without moisture, this can cause the hair to become dry and brittle. There should be an appropriate measure of protein in the hair to have healthy hair.

Depending on the condition of the hair, protein treatment is essential for the hair. You won't know any of this until you pay close attention to your hair.

When your hair feels mushy and not strong, you should take caution to balance out your protein. It takes a long time of neglect for your hair to break and get damaged. We have to pay close attention to our hair.

Types of protein treatments

a. ApHogee Two-Step Protein Treatment (a quick fix for protein)

b. Tropic Isle Living Jamaican Black Castor Oil Protein Conditioner Mayonnaise Treatment

c. SheaMoisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strengthen & Restore Treatment Masque

2. Natural Protein Hair Treatment

Using a glove, create a warm mixture of natural protein sources (eggs, avocado, or greek yogurt) combined with conditioning ingredients (coconut oil, honey, coconut milk, banana, cream, or mayonnaise)

Spray some water to make your hair add moisture, apply the mixture to all parts of your hair, and massage vigorously.

Thereafter, cover your head with a shower cap, leave the mixture on for about 30-40 minutes, and then wash your hair thoroughly with lukewarm water.

3. Internal source of protein

Remember to give your body an adequate portion of protein via eggs, coconut oil, fish, vitamins in your meals to make it healthy and lustrous. This is an effective protein treatment.

Excess protein in the hair isn't good but if it happens, use a conditioner to remove excess protein. The key is moderation, avoid loading the hair with too much protein, to prevent hair breakage, brittleness, and frizz.
