When it comes to the issue of skincare, consistency is key. It’s not something you do lazily and expect fantastic results. Maintaining a consistent skincare routine over time brings an accumulative effect on improving your skin.

No skincare is complete without these steps:

1. Cleansing

The cleanser is used to remove makeup, dead skin cells, and other pollutants that have clogged the pores on the skin of the face. The first step is choosing the right cleanser to use. There are so many types available, but the most important thing is to choose the one that tolerates rather than irritates your skin.

For instance, foam, gel, bar, and clay cleansers are suitable for oily and combination skin. The gel cleanser is recorded to be suitable for oily and combination skin. Cream and micellar cleansers are ideal for dry and sensitive skin types. For effective results, a cleanser can be used daily.

2. Toning (Hydrating)

Basically, the toner shrinks the appearance of pores and promotes refreshed and clearer complexions. It can be sprayed directly on the face or used on a ball of cotton wool around the face. A popular example is rose water; it is gentle to the skin and ideal for use on dry, sensitive, and normal skins.

3. Serum (Vitamin C)

The serum is a lightweight moisturizer of high active ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, glycolic, and vitamin c.

  • Glycolic Acid is a good ingredient for oily skin. It reduces excess oil, provides a brighter youthful complexion, and prevents the clogging of pores that lead to acne breakouts.
  • Vitamin C: Visibly boosts skin radiance and luminosity. Glow your way to your most radiant skin yet
  • Hyaluronic acid: Hyaluronic acid is a natural moisturizer that brightens the skin, and reduces wrinkles.

Applying serum should be done when the skin is wet, preferably after a shower and before moisturizing.

4. Moisturizing

A great skincare routine isn’t complete without a moisturizer. The purpose of using a moisturizer is to prevent extreme dryness or oiliness of the skin. Study your skin type and choose the moisturizer that best suits your skin.

Regardless of your skin type, the skin should remain moisturized at all times to keep your skin hydrated, refreshed, and shiny.

5. Sun Protection Factor/ Sunscreen (SPF)

It is important to wear sunscreen daily. Look out for a sunscreen with an SPF value of 30 or higher.

The purpose is to protect the skin against the damaging UV light which can develop into cancerous skin lesions later in life.

This doesn’t have anything to do with the weather being sunny or not, because even when it’s cloudy, 80% of the sun’s rays are still being absorbed by your skin.

The SPF should be the last thing you apply on the top layer of the skin to allow it to shield the skin effectively against UV light.

This can help reduce signs of aging and skin cancer.
