Hello there!

Welcome to 2021. What a year 2020 was! Even with all the negatives in that year, I am glad to look back and see that there were many positives in there too! One of it is self-care, and this brings us to hairmpire talks - Some hair trends of 2020.

Low Cuts

You bet you've seen a lot of trends around cutting or shaving down last year, huh? Absolutely! If you didn't join the trend, one of your friends or family members did haha!

These haircuts go from subtly trimmed to a clean shave and everything in between.

Low cuts widely trended in 2020 because they are one fine hair with super low maintenance. On more things, they help you cut down time from your usual long-hour hair routine. If you then decide to pop in some colours, ooh la!

This leads me to another hair trend in 2020;

Hair Colouring

2020 brought the saying 'go bright or go home' to live!
From low cuts, to locs, to natural hair, to relaxed hair, to weaves. It was the year that witnessed more colours so far, in my opinion.
You want to pop as a whole? Add some colours to the hair!

Finger Waves

OMG! Finger wave is another trend that rocked last year back and forth. It is very chic and done with both natural and relaxed hair, using comb, styling mousse and lotta gel, swiping the comb in an 'S' pattern to create waves. Yes, you remember now!
It's pretty easy to achieve by anyone and cool for either office or wedding.

Baby hair

Although, baby hairstyling did not start yesterday, but the trend continued all through 2020. It is those wispy hairs that sometimes grow around your hairline. Also called “peach fuzz”, these hairs have a much different texture to the rest of the head. So styling them to lay flat and wavy with gel and comb has -in what seems like forever - been a great added beauty, one that isn't soon to leave us.

Last year, we saw a rise in ladies carrying their natural texture hair with pride, from straight, to wavy, to curly, to kinky. Natural hair care and styling also improved. When it's pulled back into bun, ponytail, held with gel, or even styled in other ways, you'd just wish you were carrying natural hair.

Many of these trends - with new additions, of course! - will definitely be repeated this year.
